Profitable iPhone Website Campaigns Made Simple

Mobile advertising is has been projected to generate over $100 Billion by the end of 2011, and the fact is that the mobile web has experienced tremendous growth with the popularity of smartphones in recent years. Many people understand there is money to be made in mobile marketing, but you may not know exactly how easy it is to do. In this article, I’ll show you a simple 2-step process that can have you running iPhone website campaigns today.

Step 1: Setup a mobile website
Setting up a mobile website is much the same as a regular site, however there are a few key differences you need to be aware of. If you’re not interested in getting your hands dirty with HTML,  you can setup a mobile website using my online service iMicrosites. I also write a fair amount of material about exactly how you can create iPhone-optimized web content that leverages native device capabilities if your more technically inclined.

The image below depicts the difference between a regular website viewed on an iPhone Vs. a website optimized for an iPhone. You’ll agree the one on the right looks a lot easier to use, right? The increased usability of the mobile presentation will result in a more positive user experience for the visitor.

Step 2: Setup a mobile advertising campaign and tweak until profitable

The big secret is that you can target specific smartphones with your advertising, once you have your mobile page setup. For example, You can use Google to setup iPhone specific campaigns, as I’ve outlined in this video. Secret Tip: Using mobile advertising to drive to lead capture page has worked much better for many of my campaigns than directing traffic to a sales campaign. Each strategy has it’s merit though, and you should test both to determine which is most effective in terms of ROI.
