We’ve all heard the phrase “success leaves clues” but what specifically does it uncover? In this article, we’ll look at five things the top network and internet marketers are doing that set them apart from the average marketer and keep their pockets full of profit.
If you created a list of the best marketers in the world and had a chance to pick their brains, these are some of the traits they would all have in common.
As you read this article, consider how these traits can help you become more successful in your business then leave me a comment below with your thoughts.
#5 Leverage The Experience Of Successful Professionals
If you are making money at something, doesn’t it make sense to focus on scalability? If you can make $50/hour doing something, why not pay 2 people $25 each to do the same thing for you? You’ll make the same amount of money but remove your time as a requirement in the equation.
Successful marketers understand this concept and leverage the talents of others instead of getting their hands dirty.
For example, many marketers waste hundreds of hours building a website when this entire task could be outsourced, saving precious hours for which you can command a higher rate.
#4 Maintain Daily Processes That Result In Income
In a recent article I explained that applying a specific set of actions, consistently to achieve to a desired result is what creates momentum that can sustain you financially. Many people think this means doing things that you don’t find desirable, but that doesn’t have to be the case.
Successful marketers understand they need to structure their time to maximize production, as each day is a chance to insert a finite amount of processes that create value in their particular marketplace. This is, after all, the single factor responsible for their financial return.
#3 Leverage Viral Buzz On Social Media
When a pro speaks, people listen. But any pro worth their salt is using social media to communicate with their followers and provide value. Successful marketers use social media as a platform to engage and connect with potential and current customers first, and to pitch and promote their products second.
The whole “post your links on Facebook” thing has been done, it doesn’t work, unless your a pro spammer it won’t make a ton of sales and all it’s doing it making people look foolish and desperate.
Why? People on Facebook aren’t searching for “answers to their problems” like they are when they type a phrase into the search engine, they’re looking to socialize about current issues.
The many marketers unsuccessfully spamming affiliate links on Facebook would benefit from learning how to lead with value and create a relationship with their prospects. For example, I know one marketer who posts about a different informational video shared on his homepage every Friday. These are normally sold for $5, but each week one is free for 7 days only. The result, a lot of loyal fans are driven from Facebook to his website on Saturday to get the video – and this is often one of the slowest days for web traffic!
Watch how people like Mike Klingler or Tony Robbins post on Facebook and instantly get 20/50 or more comments. Yes, they have momentum but these folks are using the platform effectively, and it’s worth studying some of their posts to learn how they structure their content for viral syndication.
#2 Maintain Posture And Qualify Prospects
Posture can come in many forms, but maintaining posture in network marketing is simply standing your ground in the face of adversity. Ley’s say you’re talking to someone about your business and they ask, “Is this a pyramid”? A lot of folks clam up and aren’t sure how to respond. As a result, they begin posturing in a submissive way, giving up control and letting the prospect take the lead.
All that is required here is to take “the spotlight” off of you, and a good way to accomplish this is by shifting focus back to them. A great line that works well in this situation is “No it’s not, why, is that what you’re looking for cause I can’t help you”? from Falcone’s Little Black Book of Scripts.
After responding with a question like this, it’s so important to stand your ground, keep quiet and let them respond. The next person to speak will relinquish control of the situation. By maintaining your posture you can diffuse the situation while maintaining your stance.
Another trait successful marketers give equal importance to is qualifying their prospects. To simplify, if someone is a pain in the butt when you are prospecting them, they’ll likely continue with the same traits when they’re in your team.
In the same situation above with a pushy prospect, I may say something like “Let me ask you, are you even open to making extra money from home”? My friend Ray shared this line in his master sponsoring series and let me tell you it works like gangbusters to find out where you stand, and determine if they qualify for your time as a leader.
#1 Connect their product to the prospect’s core need
Master marketers solve problems, and rookie marketers promote products. I received a Facebook message the other day I just had to share. This was the first time I’d been contacted by this person and the message was just too good not to share with you. Here’s what I received in my inbox the other day…

Aside from the stellar grammar, there are a few things that immediately turned me off about this person’s pitch. First, they sent me an unsolicited message. Furthermore it sounds needy; it’s non specific and requires me to do something with no clear benefit.
But let’s look past that for a second, the bigger error in terms of “making the sale” is that the person has no idea what need of mine their product will solve. They’re blindly puking their offer on anyone who will listen and hoping a shotgun approach will magically result in a sale.
If this person had even checked me out (easy to do on Facebook) they would know I am a bit beyond “cut and paste” systems and considered offering me a solution more in line with my needs. Of corse, they would have had to discover what they were first.
One of the fastest ways to improve your result in business is to learn from and apply the strategies of people who are having success, and I guarantee you we are all following these 5 principles on a regular basis. The bigger questions is, will you?
