Hey all. I wanted to take a moment to share a great tip I received this past weekend in Vegas.
I was there for MLSP’s Live The Dream event, a 2-day Internet marketing event with presentations by some of the Internet’s top gurus. I’ll be posting a full review shortly, but during a private mastermind session I had the opportunity to meet and connect with some of the top leaders in my primary company, and it was during one of these sessions I received this nugget of information.
Previously, I’d shared a social marketing strategy tip that entailed using Facebook groups to proactively reach out to targeted prospects. I’m by no means the first person to come up with this idea, but it’s definitely been useful for me in terms of building relationships online. However, my friend Jess added a logical but powerful twist that I feel makes this technique deadly powerful.
She suggests using group comments as a way of determining the value of a prospect. For example, if someone is responding in a negative way to a comment it could be an indication this person harbors a negative outlook on life, or at least on a specific issue. In our specific business opportunity, we’re looking to qualify people to join our team and we’re only looking to connect with positive, motivated folks.
By taking the previous lesson a step further, we can identify people with similar interests AND a positive demeanor. This also allows us to initiate contact only with people we deem appropriate. Also, we can reference the comment in our initial interaction with the person, which gives us a great starting point for connecting and building a relationship. By building relationships with positive, like-minded people on social networks such as Facebook, you will be better positioned to attract the right kind of person into your team or opportunity. Remember, its a social network…Be social!
I’d like to give thanks and credit to Jessica Perretti for putting this bug in my head. It’s so simple that I’m kicking myself for not thinking of it first, but sometimes it takes a different perspective on an issue to uncover another layer of value. You only get this kind of information by connecting with leaders in your field, plain and simple. Thanks Jess, you rock!
I’ll be posting further tips, training and interviews from MLSP‘s live the dream event, including exclusive interviews with co-founder Brian Finale and top recruiter David Wood. Plus, I’ll show you exactly what happened that got the fire martial called during a private training session. This event was a blast, get there next year!
